Ross B. Corotis, NAE, PE, SE, F.EMI, F.SEI, D.M.ASCE, is Professor Emeritus at the University of Colorado, where he was Dean of Engineering. He researches the coordinated roles of engineering and social science for long-term risks and resiliency. With degrees from MIT, he established the Department of Civil Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University, chaired many committees on structural safety, served as science advisor for the Department of State in Washington, DC., and was Editor of Structural Safety and the Journal of Engineering Mechanics. He received the ASCE OPAL Lifetime Achievement Award in Education, and authored more than 250 publications.
